About Namibia
LANGUAGE: The official language of Namibia is English.
CLIMATE: During the hunting season of June / July the mornings are cool and the days are very comfortable. The months August to October warm up and the temperature would be more like Arizona in the summer-hot and dry thus shade offers the needed relief.

Namibia is located on the west side of the African continent immediately north of South Africa. Namibia is a large country with a huge animal population and a relatively small human population. It is a beautiful and clean country with a democratic government with most of its tourism coming from Europe. Namibia has a wonderful history of people with exceptional hunting skill.
The country and terrain varies enormously, from the pristine Skeleton Coast with its icy Atlantic Ocean waters, to huge arid regions to the rolling hills, lush grass and woodlands of Ombengu. This unusual diversity creates ideal habitat for a wide variety of wildlife species and perhaps the most unique hunting experience in Africa.

Namibia has a wonderful and diverse population of game animals and birds. From elephants to fur seals, from coastal fishing to excellent river fly-fishing, Namibia has abundant opportunities for all who visit. Lion, leopard, elephant, black rhino and Oryx grace the countryside. Ombengu also has absolutely excellent kudu and eland as well as a large variety of other plains game. Statuesque Oryx abound and represent a breathtaking trophy opportunity.
Etosha National Park
There is an enormous game park in the North of Namibia. Ombengu and Mopane are approximately 20 miles from this ancient place called Etosha National Park. Etosha is a photographer's paradise. Lions, black rhino, elephants, cheetah and a seemingly endless variety of plains game are among the many species of animals that stretch across miles and miles of the Etosha Pan. The Etosha Pan is in the heart of the park. Once the largest lake in the ancient world, plate tectonics and environmental shifts in prehistoric times drained the lake and today it is only partly filled by seasonal rains. We at Ombengu and Mopane see Etosha as a place of special beauty in all seasons. In the wet summer, game migrates west where that years birth offers up a portion of its bounty to extend the cycle of life for all creatures. In the winter, wonderful water holes are host to the theater of life within an otherwise dry landscape.
